Trainer Michael Morrison is excited to announce the launch of the Morrison Racing stable on the Gold Coast.
Morrison, who has spent the past five years working as Michael Costa's Racing Manager and Assistant Trainer, has decided to launch his own training venture with a boutique team on the Gold Coast.
Morrison said Costa's upcoming departure to train in Dubai presented the perfect opportunity to commence training in his own right.
"Having been a part of this great industry for well over 10 years now, it's been a dream of mine since the start to become a trainer with my own team of horses and to compete at the highest level," said Morrison.
"Over the last 12 months I've been heavily involved with day-to-day fitness planning for all the horses as well as race programming and jockey selection so I really feel I've ticked all the boxes and I'm ready to operate at a high level right from the very start."
Morrison said he was delighted to have secured a stable on the Gold Coast to base his boutique team from
"With the recent announcement of track and facility upgrades here on the Gold Coast, it really is an exciting time to be a part of the training set-up here in this beautiful part of the world," said Morrison.
"Being based on the Gold Coast, not only do we have access to the beach for horse recovery and a change in their daily routine, we're also very well positioned to be able to maximise prizemoney opportunities in Northern NW as well as Metropolitan racing and good provincial tracks in south east Queensland.
"This gives horses every chance to be able to reach their full potential."
Morrison said he was keen to keep numbers on a smaller scale to begin with so that he could provide a real focus on attention to detail and owner communications.
"I've been very hands on in my role with Michael Costa Racing and I plan to take that into my role as a trainer, especially considering l'Il be starting with 20-30 horses," he said.
"That will allow me to keep my finger on the pulse with everything in the stable and gives me the time to ensure that owner communication is kept up to a really high standard.
"From there the goal will be to build the stable slowly to put ourselves in a position to become a force in Queensland racing over the next two or three years."
Morrison has already been chosen as the preferred trainer for a number of Costa's former horses that he has worked very closely with including the likes of SHE CAN SING, WILLO TITTO and OLYMPIC CLASS.
