BITTER ROMANCE RELISHES THE WET ON HOME TURF

BITTER ROMANCE powered through the heavy going on her home track to break her maiden at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Despite looking under pressure in the run, the daughter of Kiss And Make Up responded under Lani Allen to produce a powerful finish and score a narrow victory right on the line.

The win was a significant improvement from a last-start seventh at Grafton but the addition of a tongue tie and a nose roll by trainer Michael Morrison proved a winning move.

“The gear change certainly helped,” said Morrison.

“Also I think the combination of the freshen-up and a more patient ride by Lani made a difference.

“It was her first run on her home track and her best run previously was on a heavy track so there were no concerns about the conditions.”

Allen’s ride continued her strong form for the stable over the past month, having also partnered VIVENZO and THE RITZ to recent victories.

The win was a dual victory of sorts for the stable given Morrison purchased the horses’s half sister for just $12,000 from the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale in June this year.

Congratulations to BITTER ROMANCE’s owners Geoff and Tammy Kreutzer.
