VIVENZO qualified for the final of the 2023 Queensland Country Cups Challenge at Doomben in December after scoring his second straight win courtesy of victory in the Innisfail Cup. 

Having taken out the Benchmark 60 (1360m) at Gordonvale at his previous start, VIVENZO stepped up to 2000m and promptly broke another track record with his tough win in the Innisfail Cup. 

The versatile gelding now has almost $150,000 in career earnings after registering his sixth victory under local rider Jeff Felix. The pair were prominent throughout before taking the lead in the home straight and just holding on in a bunched finish.

The 6YO has now secured a start in the $200,000 Country Cups Challenge Final (1600m), which takes place on Saturday, 2 December. 

“Our first Far North Queensland Racing Carnival has been a whirlwind experience, and it was great to end it on a high note with victory for Vivenzo,” said Michael. 

“Not everything fell our way, but we kept battling and to say this win was special would be an understatement. 

“Massive thanks to Mark and Dannielle Atkinson who steered the ship for the stable up there. Their passion for racing and love of our horses was a big reason for Vivenzo’s win. Bring on the Country Cups Challenge Final in December!”
